Staff Backend Software Engineer (.NET)

About the client and the project

Regulatory compliance technology company providing an AI-powered platform to global enterprises. The team builds and evolves modern, cloud-based applications for a global customer base, focusing on scalability, reliability and engineering best practices as the platform grows toward SaaS excellence.

What you will do

  • Write clean, maintainable code that sets a standard for the wider engineering team using .NET/C# and related technologies.
  • Deliver high-quality, working software regularly as part of a cross-functional development team.
  • Provide in-depth code reviews with attention to architecture and long-term maintainability.
  • Ensure documentation exists for critical systems and write technical guides for other engineers.
  • Help define reliability and monitoring standards to support fast incident response in production.
  • Diagnose root causes of complex bugs across code and infrastructure, delivering fixes with automated regression tests.
  • Mentor, coach and empower other engineers, sharing knowledge through demos and presentations.

Must-have skills

  • C# / .NET — 10+ years
  • Microservice architecture experience across more than one context
  • Event-driven architecture and messaging/streaming tools (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar) — 2+ years
  • NoSQL databases (e.g. Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis)
  • Cloud application deployment and scaling, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Agile working environment experience
  • Technical leadership and mentoring experience — 3+ years
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • English B2

Nice to have

  • Kafka experience specifically for event streaming
  • Elasticsearch experience specifically for NoSQL data storage
  • Experience driving best-practice improvements across multiple teams
  • Experience influencing complex technical decisions with multiple stakeholders

Location and work model

  • Hybrid (2 days/week in the office, Lisboa)
