Role Title: Senior Java Developer

The role involves the development and maintenance of software solutions for tolling products used in national and international projects. The products include toll management and monitoring systems, as well as roadside equipment integrations, supporting both small-scale and large-scale deployments.

The project includes software products focused on:

  • Roadside equipment and peripheral integration (sensors, signaling systems, inputs);

  • Integration with internal and third-party systems;

  • Web-based management and monitoring portals;

  • Rich user-facing web interfaces;

  • Linux-based development, testing, and production environments;

  • Service-oriented architectures designed to meet strict service quality and availability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java SE;

  • Develop and maintain integrations with roadside devices and external systems;

  • Implement and maintain SOAP and REST web services;

  • Implement and maintain gRPC and proto servers and clients;

  • Participate in the definition and evolution of software architecture and technical solutions;

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in critical production environments;

  • Ensure software quality, reliability, scalability, and performance;

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across development, operations, and product areas;

  • Contribute to code reviews, testing activities, and continuous improvement processes;

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation;

  • Support deployment and maintenance activities in Linux-based environments.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 5 years of previous experience in enterprise backend software development environments. Experience in mobility, transportation, tolling, or embedded systems is a plus.

  • Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is often preferred.

Additional valued qualifications:

  • Experience with distributed systems and integration platforms;

  • Experience working with Linux production environments;

  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps-oriented practices.

Work Environment

  • Regime: Hybrid, up to 3 days at the office

  • Location: Lagoas Park, Oeiras

  • Expected Start Date: Immediate

  • Contract Duration: Undefined term/long-term project

Equipment Requirements

In case of integration, the candidate should have:

  • 64-bit operating system;

  • Minimum 32GB RAM;

  • SSD storage;

  • Microsoft Office suite.
