Platform Test Engineer (.NET)
Mid/Senior Platform Engineer (.NET)
About the role
Retail group's digital and technology company operating across multiple markets. The role sits within a Dev Platforms team under Architecture, Infrastructure & Platform Engineering, focused on building the tools and infrastructure that let engineering teams test their own code autonomously and at scale across a large application ecosystem.
What you will do
- Develop automation, tools and utilities that improve the technical health of products and engineering practices.
- Build and evolve test infrastructure covering CI pipeline integration, execution in ephemeral environments and device farms, parallelism, and risk-based test selection.
- Expose test results as data (duration, failure rate, coverage per capability, execution cost) so teams can track their own suite health autonomously.
- Integrate AI capabilities into the testing workflow, such as assisted test case generation, failure diagnosis, and suite maintenance, ensuring outputs are deterministic, versioned, and reviewed.
- Diagnose and remediate flaky tests, including quarantine strategies and suite lifecycle management.
- Act as a technical reference and advocate for test engineering practices across engineering and product teams.
Location and work model
- Hybrid (2 days/week in the office, Porto)
What are we looking for?
- Software development and test methodology experience — 8+ years
- Proven experience building tools and infrastructure used by other engineering teams
- .NET or equivalent programming language
- Git and peer review practices, with library design for third-party use
- CI/CD and test automation, including pipeline design, parallelization, and execution optimization
- Experience diagnosing and remediating non-deterministic (flaky) tests
- Experience with containers, ephemeral environments, and device farms
- Hands-on experience with web and mobile automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, Playwright, WebDriver IO)
- Solid knowledge of contract and integration testing and test pyramid effort distribution
- Experience with synthetic monitoring and observability for continuous production validation
- English B2
- Portuguese
Nice to have
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., ISTQB Test Automation Engineering, cloud or Kubernetes certifications)
- Experience with DevOps and GitOps methodologies
- Experience with performance and load testing, including peak profile modelling
- Knowledge of Product Thinking applied to platforms and developer experience metrics (e.g., DORA, SPACE)
- Hands-on profile
- Ability to influence engineering teams without formal authority
