Mid Machine Learning Engineer (Python)
About the role
Global professional services company with a technology delivery hub in Portugal. The team is building an MLOps practice from the ground up, turning machine learning models developed by data scientists into reliable, production-ready systems. This is a hands-on, builder-focused environment where pragmatic solutions and ownership are valued over heavy process.
What you will do
- Deploy machine learning models developed by data scientists into production environments.
- Build and maintain ML-focused CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor models in production, tracking performance and key metrics, and implement basic alerting.
- Write clean, structured, and testable Python code aligned with team standards.
- Collaborate closely with data scientists and data engineers on model deployment and data transformation initiatives.
- Optimize model response times and operational efficiency in production.
- Support retraining automation initiatives as the MLOps practice matures.
Location and work model
- Hybrid (2 days/week in the office, Lisboa)
What are we looking for?
- Machine Learning experience — 3+ years
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Strong Python skills, including OOP, design patterns, and testing frameworks (pytest/unittest)
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
- Understanding of MLOps fundamentals, including Git versioning, pull requests, and code reviews
- Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn
- Experience deploying models with Docker or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with building model-serving APIs using FastAPI or Flask
- English B2
Nice to have
- Basic knowledge of Java or Scala for integrating with existing systems
- Familiarity with Azure
