Mid Machine Learning Engineer (Python)
About the client and the project
Global professional services company with a technology delivery hub in Portugal. The team is building an MLOps practice from the ground up, moving machine learning models from data science experimentation into reliable, monitored production systems. This is a hands-on, builder-focused environment where processes and automation are still being established.
What you will do
- Deploy machine learning models developed by data scientists into production environments.
- Build and maintain ML-focused CI/CD deployment pipelines.
- Monitor models in production, tracking performance, failures and key metrics, and implementing basic alerting.
- Write clean, structured, testable Python code aligned with team standards.
- Collaborate closely with data scientists and data engineers on model deployment and data transformation initiatives.
- Optimize model response times and operational efficiency in production.
- Support retraining automation initiatives as the MLOps practice matures.
Must-have skills
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Machine Learning experience — 3+ years
- Python
- SQL
- CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
- TensorFlow, PyTorch or Scikit-learn
- Docker or Kubernetes
- Git versioning and code review practices
- English B2
Nice to have
- FastAPI or Flask for model-serving APIs
- Basic knowledge of Java or Scala
- Experience with model optimization and compression
- Familiarity with Azure
Location and work model
- Hybrid (2 days/week in the office, Lisboa)
