Job Title: Junior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our team and take ownership of the internal tools and applications that support our organization’s operations.

Overall Job Description

As a Junior Software Engineer with 3+ years of experience, you will be a key technical authority within the team, taking ownership of the full lifecycle of internal applications, from architecture and development through to maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement. You will work across a broad technology stack (front-end, back-end, scripting, and databases) and act as a technical reference for the team. You will translate business needs into reliable software, drive engineering standards, and mentor junior colleagues.

Professional Skills

• Full-stack development: ASPX/ASP.NET, Java/Tomcat, and PHP/MySQL.

• Strong Java development skills: REST APIs, servlet-based architecture, Tomcat lifecycle management.

• VB.NET for enterprise Windows applications: WinForms, data binding, system integration.

• Scripting and automation: Python, VBA, and PowerShell across Microsoft and enterprise environments.

• Advanced SQL skills on Oracle (PL/SQL, stored procedures) and MS SQL Server (T SQL, SSMS, query optimisation).

• MySQL experience in web application contexts: schema design, query tuning, and application integration.

• Git version control: branching strategies, code review, and CI/CD integration.

• Agile practices: Scrum/Kanban, sprint planning, backlog refinement, iterative delivery.

• Atlassian suite: Jira for tracking, Confluence for documentation, Bitbucket for source control.

• Strong grasp of software engineering principles: clean code, SOLID, design patterns, and unit testing.

• Clear communicator with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven ability to mentor engineers and raise team-wide code quality.

Activities

• Design, build, and maintain internal applications across the full stack.

• Own delivery end-to-end: from requirements and design through deployment and support.

• Develop and maintain database objects across Oracle, MS SQL Server, and MySQL.

• Write automation scripts in Python, PowerShell, and VBA to reduce manual effort.

• Analyze and refactor legacy applications (VB.NET, VBA, ASPX) for quality and performance.

• Work with stakeholders to turn business requirements into technical specifications.

• Lead code reviews and enforce development standards across the team.

• Troubleshoot complex issues across applications and databases, including root cause analysis.

• Maintain technical documentation in Confluence.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and estimation.

Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field.

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proven expertise across: Java, Python, VB.NET, PHP, PowerShell, VBA, ASPX.

• Strong production experience with Oracle and/or MS SQL Server.

• Track record of delivering internal tools and enterprise applications.

• Professional certifications (Java, Microsoft, Oracle, or similar) are a plus.

Requirements

• EU citizenship.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional European languages are a plus.
