Senior Backend Developer (Java, Spring Boot)

About the client and the project

Payments and financial technology company operating across Portugal. You will join a team building and evolving microservices and APIs that support mission-critical, high-throughput financial systems. The project is focused on modernizing services toward cloud-native, cloud-agnostic architectures with strong requirements for resilience, latency, and observability.

What you will do

Develop and maintain microservices, APIs, and business logic in Java with Spring Boot, following modern engineering best practices.
Design solutions oriented toward cloud-native and cloud-agnostic technologies, optimizing for performance, volume, resilience, and latency.
Write unit, integration, and contract tests, and support QA in test automation.
Participate in technical solution design together with architects, aligned with the defined architecture.
Collaborate with architecture, QA, SRE, security, and business teams in refinements, planning, and code reviews, ensuring code is secure and observable (logs, tracing, metrics).
Contribute to technical documentation covering services, APIs, and key technical decisions.
Analyze and resolve incidents in development and QA/certification environments, acting as third-level support for issue resolution.
