Data Engineer (GCP, Python)

About the client and the project

International banking group with a technology and operations hub in Portugal. The role sits within a data and distribution platform team, building cloud-native data solutions to support data-driven decision making across the organization.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines (ELT/ETL) to ingest, process, and store large volumes of data from diverse sources.
  • Build robust data models and schemas (data warehouse/data lake) on GCP using services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
  • Develop in Python to implement data transformations, orchestration, automation tasks, and data quality checks.
  • Collaborate on the integration, deployment, and operationalization of AI prediction models within cloud data pipelines.
  • Integrate testing into the data engineering lifecycle, including UAT/QA planning and execution, data validation, and release readiness.
  • Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
  • Implement data quality, monitoring, logging, and alerting practices to ensure data reliability, governance, and security.
